The IAP Control Valve is an electrically controlled. Pilot operated pressure control valve. The Injection Solenoid (11) Actuation Pressure Control Valve is used in. Valve breakage is a very common problem on the C7 and its forerunner the 3126B. However the mileage is usually in excess of 200,000. I have know several that have had the same problem. Almost always the very last valve on the number 6 cylinder. Glad you had warranty because CAT won't help.

Hey I was just wondering for those of you that have buses in your fleet with the C7 engine how they are working for you. Ours kind of suck. I mean I know their supposed to be basically a 3126 with a bunch of modifications but they are really dissapointing with all of the leaking etc etc.

The ones we received the last two- years have been very reliable.
The Cummins ISB and 5.9 we have are a different story. They define warranty.

Yeah Cummins engines are job security for mechanics, ours have nothing but problems.

Aside from some leaking IAPV sensors and the 3126's OE crimped HEUI line (use the metal replacement #240-0717), the electronic 6's have been pretty decent. We've had a couple derate due to the IAP valve being erratic (code 164-2) and that's pretty much been it. We have a 98% CAT fleet and jump on problems as soon as they occur. I've had 2 ISB's here in big Thomas WestCoastER's, and other than 1 fuel pump (warranty covered)they were just fine also. Maybe you need to spec a different oil, or take a look at the interval and/or condition.

We see quite a few of the very newest C7/9s, and really do not have too much bad to say about them other than it would be nice if GM didn't hide the damed thing UNDER the cab.
